Remedying Gang Violence Through Strategic Policing

Length of Seminar: 2 Days
Instructor: Paris Spencer

This course is designed for progressive law enforcement agencies. Because there is a need for law and order, traditional policing continues to be a must. The difference with strategic/intelligent policing is; gang expansion will be limited, their membership will be diminished, and their activity will be minimized. One of the reasons that gang activity has been on the rise is that we are responding to crimes that have already been committed. Therefore, itís difficult to show that law enforcement agencies are making a difference. What the media and statisticians fail to report is, gang membership and gang activity would more than double if it were not for traditional policing.

This course covers how technology, media, classification, federalization, and strategic planning, combined with traditional policing, provides the gateway towards remedying the problems with increased membership and activity. It not only takes commitment to these above named items, it takes patience, coordination, and the resources necessary to accomplish the mission.
