
Criminal Drug Interdiction Techniques and Concealment Locations

Course Overview:
Criminal patrol techniques can yield large and small drug and other type arrests from traffic stops and other legal contacts.
Participants will learn how to put these legal techniques into place with different types of contacts. They will learn about the growing number of drugs they may see in their area and how to battle them, along with the concealment locations in which smugglers and others involved with drugs hide drugs, weapons, and currency in vehicles.
Upon Completion: Participants will be able to:
• Understand the history of contraband saturation and how trends and patterns have shifted
• Identify legal traffic stops
• Identify the conversational questions and concealed interviews during the encounter
• Detect that some terrorist networks are tied to drugs and how to stop them
• Request consent legally
• Identify search and seizure laws associated with arrest, probable cause, and other legal techniques
• Properly use K-9s and the case law pertaining to their deployment
• Identify how to be more officer safety-conscious
• Know how and when to escalate search techniques
• Locate hidden contraband in sophisticated compartments
• Identify cover loads
• Act after criminal activity or contraband is located
• Properly document narcotics arrests
• Develop controlled deliveries into more arrests
• Recognize escort/decoy vehicles and associated awareness
• Identify currency seizure procedures and how they benefit your agency
