Instructor Bio
Roger Davis currently serves as a special agent supervisor for a state level criminal investigative agency. In that capacity, he commands the Major Crimes, Special Investigations, and Crimes Against Children units for the southern districts of the state. His responsibilities include the supervision of high-profile criminal investigations involving officer involved shootings and critical incidents, homicides, serial crimes, public corruption, sexual and physical assault cases involving children, and cyber based investigations regarding online child predators. In his 25 years of law enforcement, he has served in numerous capacities on both a state and local level. This includes patrol, assistant field commander of a narcotics task force, criminal investigator, special agent, and various assignments within supervision. He has a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Cincinnati and a master's degree in criminal justice from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell . He will be a recent graduate from the FBI National Academy in September of 2019. Roger has obtained his master criminal investigator certification from the Ohio Peace Officer's Training Commission in addition to numerous other certifications including Force Science. He has been nominated and awarded numerous awards including the Ohio Attorney General’s Distinguished Law Enforcement Group Achievement Award, Ohio Attorney General All Staff Teamwork Award , Fraternal Order of Police Ohio's Finest Finalist, Emil Otting Award, and patrol officer of the year. Roger is married with three children and is an avid woodworker and home remodeler when he is not coaching sports or responding to a callout. |

Course
Objectives
The unsolved homicide training and curriculum is a 2 1/2 day instructional symposium designed for law enforcement professionals and prosecutors, who are actively involved and engaged in unsolved homicide investigations. The lecture will provide an overview of unsolved case methodology, assessment, obstacles, and resources, such as advancements in DNA, cyber forensics, and criminal intelligence and analysis. While the emphasis will be on investigative strategies, to increase the likelihood of successful investigations, several participants will also be asked to present an actual unsolved case for review by classmates and instructors for potential investigative leads. Upon completion, attendees will have a working knowledge of investigative protocol and strategies in dealing with unsolved cases. This lecture is given in power-point format with supplemental handouts.
