Instructor Bio
Jeff Owens is a retired Lieutenant from the Marion County(Florida) Sheriff's Office. Jeff began his career as a Communications Officerwhile attending police academy, then worked up the ranks in road patrol, propertyand major crimes investigations, civil division and bailiff supervision, toeventually overseeing all aspects of the agency's accreditation credentials; toinclude, CALEA, CALEA Communications, ACA, CFA, FCAC, FL-TAC, and FMJS. Jeff isalso a certified jail, communications, and law enforcement accreditationassessor. Jeff earned his undergraduate and graduate education at Saint LeoUniversity and the University of Central Florida in criminal justice,sociology, and business. Jeff currently serves full time for the Hollywood (Florida)Police Department as the law enforcement Accreditation Manager. Jeff alsofounded "Accreditation Colony, LLC" to serve smallerand mid-sized public service organizations that would otherwise not havesufficient access to accreditation services, resources and industryexpertise. Jeff has a passion for accreditation and policy processesthat provide a dynamic and systematic approach to all facets of the modernpublic services platform.
