Detective Guffey has over 23 years of Law Enforcement experience with both the New Castle Police Department and with the Henry County Sheriff’s Department, where presently he serves as a Criminal Detective, Training Officer, and D.A.R.E. Officer. At the Henry County Sheriff’s Department, Detective Guffey, is and has been responsible for investigating various crimes, including, Death Investigations, Burglaries, Fraud Cases, Sexual Assault Investigations, Robberies, Missing Persons, Child Abuse and Child Neglect Investigations.
Detective Guffey has also received specialized training in Crime Scene Photography, Crime Scene Documentation, Blood Spatter, and Hostage and Crisis Negotiations.
Detective Guffey is the current Coroner for Henry County, serving his second term. He has received the State of Indiana certification as a Medicolegal Death Investigator. During his tenure as Henry County Coroner, he has investigated record numbers of Child and Infant deaths as well as Drug Related deaths.
Detective Guffey is a certified Master Instructor with the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, a certified Sexual Assault Investigations Instructor and a Family and Domestic Violence Instructor.
