Chief Harry Dolan is a 31-year police veteran who has been serving as a Chief of Police since 1987. As one of the nation's most experienced police chiefs, he currently leads the Raleigh North Carolina Police Department, comprised of close to 900 employees serving the country's 44th largest city.
Chief Dolan served as a jailer, road deputy and city beat officer prior to being appointed as the Chief of Police for the North Carolina Department of Human Resource Police Department in Black Mountain. He later went on to serve as the Chief of Police in Lumberton, North Carolina and Grand Rapids, Michigan before returning to Raleigh as Chief in 2007.
Chief Dolan has lectured throughout the United States in the fields of leadership, personnel management and community policing. He is a graduate of Western Carolina University and holds a master’s degree in organizational leadership and management from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Chief Dolan is an enthusiastic presenter who is known for his sense of humor and unique ability to inspire leaders to strive for service excellence.
