The emphasis of the program as a whole is primarily on understanding the spoken language and on making brief, understandable responses appropriately. The ability to communicate in an understandable manner is encouraged with attention to grammatical correctness and authentic pronunciation only as a means of avoiding a lack of communication or lack of understanding. Cultural activities and physical activities requiring the use of Spanish language to compliment formal classroom study.
