Course Overview:
The first line supervisor is said to be the foundation or the operation’s backbone of any agency.
Without question, first line supervisors know their officers better than anyone in the department.
Regardless of the size of your agency, supervisors are being tasked with investigating citizens’ complaints and officer misconduct allegations.
This two (2) day training module will assist the supervisor in every aspect from taking a complaint to conducting a fair and comprehensive investigation and developing impartial findings.
It is important to identify the difference in a supervisory issue from an internal affairs criminal investigation.
Upon completion of this training module, each attendee will have been provided:
- How to take a citizen’s complaint
- Identify officer misconduct, domestic violence, etc.
- Interview the complainant
- Understand and give proper warnings and protections to the complainant and the officer
- Constitutional protection afforded to government employees
- Evidentiary issues and concerns
- Documentation trends and officer issues
