Leadership Skills for Survival

Length of Seminar: 2 Days
Instructor: James W. Dodson

Course Overview:
Public safety officers are constantly confronted with some of society’s most difficult and demanding problems, which are exacerbated by a culture which feeds on the moral decline of our country. Continued exposure to this environment can cause officers to struggle with their feelings of disillusionment, frustration and burn out. These symptoms, left unmanaged, may find an officer engaging in a variety of self-destructive behaviors that can have career ending consequences. The results of these career causalities not only negatively impact the officer, but also family members, departments and the public safety professions.

In recent years, several highly publicized events of misconduct have created a great deal of controversy and have shaken the public’s trust and confidence in the public safety community.

These events have also caused microscopic examinations of training issues related to leadership, integrity, ethics and the overall values of the public safety culture.
