Introduction To Street Spanish Language for Officer Survival

Length of Seminar: 3 Days

Course Overview:
This three day intense Spanish Training Course has been designed to provide the Officer(s) with the knowledge and practical application of the Spanish Culture and Language when faced with an investigation, confrontation or arrest involving Spanish or Latin American subjects.

Officer(s) who have been provided basic understanding and communication skills of the Spanish Language and Culture will be better prepared to conduct investigations, diffuse confrontation, make vehicle stops and arrest with greater efficiency and with less potential of danger to the officer(s).

Upon Completion:

The officer(s) will have been provided the knowledge and skills to:

  1. Correctly Pronounce the Spanish Alphabet.
  2. Explain the Various Latino Cultures.
  3. Cite Common Arrest Expressions in Spanish.
  4. Recite Numbers, Days of the Week, and Months of the Year.
  5. Identify a Minimum of 10 Spanish Danger Expressions.
  6. Identify Common Parts of the Body in Spanish.
  7. Recite Common Spanish Courtesy Expressions.
  8. Pronounce Street Spanish Terms.
  9. Pronounce Common Spanish Drug Terminology.
  10. Explain the Meaning of Hispanic Names.
  11. Request in Spanish Information Necessary to Fill Out a Report.
  12. Identify Dangerous Situations Based on Subject Actions.
  13. Identify Certain Latino Cultural Aspects in an Effort to Prevent and Detect Potentially Dangerous Situations.
  14. Identify Danger Words Commonly Used Preceding an Assault.
  15. Identify Certain Commands Useful to an Officer Attempting to Stabilize a Situation.
  16. Identify the Correct Way to use Arrest Phrases when Taking a Non-English Speaking Subject into Custody.
  17. Identify Ways to Avoid Pitfalls when Conducting an Investigation.
