Course Overview:
The documentation and recovery of physical evidence associated with a large geographical crime scene can be a daunting task. Man - Made, Mass Transit, and Natural Disasters can pose various unique situations not commonly encountered during criminal investigations.
The purpose of this course is to familiarize first responding officers and investigators on the process of securing, documenting and processing a large geographical crime scene.
There will be discussions to include implementing an effective incident command system, obtaining necessary resources and overcoming many unexpected obstacles associated with investigating a large geographical event.
Other topics to be addressed include the different levels of scene containment, searching methodologies, and several case studies involving urban, rural and aquatic crime scene investigations.
As a result of this course, each attendee should be aware of the extent of his or her agency's resources that can be utilized to respond to an manage a large geographical crime scene. The attendee will also recognize the limitations of these resources, and how to draw on other jurisdictions and agencies readily available to assist them. |
